OMG, first OTP.

I had 3 awesome ones that I was all shipping simultaneously hardcore through middle school but I'm not 100% sure which came first - Mulder/Scully (The X-Files), Jarod/Miss Parker (The Pretender), and Bobby/Diane (NYPD Blue). I remember hauling the super old school black-n-white TV with the antenna out of my closest on school nights to sneak a viewing in with the sound all the way down while I tried to figure out how the antenna had to go EXACTLY to pick up the signal.

*nostalgia, gimme a second*

But I'm prettyyyyyyy sure that it was Mulder/Scully

I was SUPER obsessed with The X-Files when I was in middle school. And my shipping got to the point where I didn't enjoy an episode unless it had M/S interaction (and my enjoyment tended to be directly proportional to the amount of ship in the episode). They were the pairing that led to me buying show-related published novels, sickening amounts of fanfic, and even having a notebook that me and my fandom school friends would pass between us between classes that was full of doodles of "MULDER AND SCULLY FOREVER!! OH MY GOD, JUST KISS ALREADY!!!1!".

That ship was so influential on me that it just opened the floodgates and within no time I was all over Jarod/Miss Parker, Sam/Jack (Stargate SG-1), Doug/Carol, Carter/Abby, and Mark/Elizabeth (ER)...

AND NOW IT WILL JUST NEVER STOP. *claps hands in glee*

Mulder/Scully is mine, too! Well, technically it was Riker/Troi or Storm/Wolverine. I grew up on TNG and I was addicted to the 90's X-Men cartoon. But all that was before we owned a computer, so I wasn't into it on the same level as MSR. Your TV story reminds me of when our cable company had some dispute with FOX, and we couldn't get it unless we had an antenna. It went on for months and the only TV that still worked with an antenna was the one in my parent's room. I had to fight that shit to get the channel in clear (if you count wavy lines and a weird color as being clear). THEN! I freaked out when it DIED right before the Triangle episode, and I knew I couldn't miss it because they KISSED. So I took over my best friend's house and watched that shit while her family looked on in horror at their daughter's weird best friend who practically fell off the couch after witnessing the kiss, Scully punching Mulder, and then his "I love you" in the hospital. I'm pretty sure my best friend wondered why the hell she was friends with me at that point.

Yes, X-Files was my gateway drug too. You had fandom school friends? My school friends didn't love it like I did. I think maybe two of them watched it, but they definitely did not understand my obsession. However, the person responsible for getting me addicted to it in the first place was the Assistant Manager at the time of the video store I currently work at (she got me hired there and trained me). My family went there for years, and she told me to watch it (I trusted her opinion on all things TV and movie). Fuck if she didn't create a monster. Fortunately she had all the eps (through half of fourth season) taped, and she loaned them to me. I marathoned the hell out of it. I kept showing up when she worked like a damn addict asking for MORE PLEASE NOW!

It did open the floodgates. And it will never stop. I DON'T WANT IT TO!

AHAHA, YESSSSS. My friends were super awesome in middle school, I have no idea how I found them. Looking back, I was totally a super nerd. No wonder I was shunned by everyone else. But the four of us had such an awesome fangirl friendship (before we even knew what "fangirling" was) that we didn't even notice.

I used to go out with my family to the a BBQ/bar joint every Friday night (family friendly). They had a TV at the bar for the bar flies and I would BEG the bartender (remember, I was like 12!) to put it on FOX. They had captioning and I was like YESSSSSSSS because I would totes ignore dinner and just stare across the bar from our table. Ah, the memories.

I wish I still had the notebook that we would pass between one another. I had it for years and years and just haven't been able to find it so not sure where it went. Damn, it would have been GLORIOUS.

Mulder/Scully love FOREVAR.
